I picked up this book on sale at a Christian Bookstore about 7 years ago... and it has sat on my shelf for that long. Yes, I know. I tend to "collect" books. I digress.
Anyways, in my journey to read more and tv less, I decided to add this book to my pile of books to read in 2016, and it ended up being a great choice!
When Crickets Cry was such a FUN read! Once I got into it, I couldn't put it down! The book starts off a bit slow, but somewhere within the first few chapters, it changes, and hooks you in. It took me over a course of about 8 days, give or take, to finish this book, and I am so glad that I took the time to read it.
It's a bit myterious, dramatic with lots of twists and turns, a love story, and will even garner a few laughs. This book was a truly fun read for me. I don't want to tell you too much or give anything away, but you MUST go pick up this book! You can also order it HERE if you don't have a store close to you that sells it.
Publisher's Description
A man with a painful past. A child with a doubtful future. And a shared journey toward healing for both their hearts.
It begins on the shaded town square in a sleepy Southern town. A spirited seven-year-old has a brisk business at her lemonade stand. But the little girl’s pretty yellow dress can’t quite hide the ugly scar on her chest.
Her latest customer, a bearded stranger, drains his cup and heads to his car, his mind on a boat he's restoring at a nearby lake. The stranger understands more about the scar than he wants to admit. And the beat-up bread truck careening around the corner with its radio blaring is about to change the trajectory of both their lives.
Before it's over, they'll both know there are painful reasons why crickets cry . . . and that miracles lurk around unexpected corners.
