Making Christmas Meaningful... with Fun Activities

Christmas time is such a fun time to have fun together as a family! The last couple of years have been such an eye-opener to each of my children's likes and dislikes. The main thing that we've learned is that they really don't need fancy things to be content. They just want our time and attention, and we are happy to oblige.

Christmas Lights

My kids LOVE Christmas lights. I mean, really, what kid doesn't? My little loves really like to hop in the car and ride around to see the sights to be had. We have several neighborhoods and parks that go all out with decorating. It just brings me so much joy to see their little eyes light up. The great thing about this, is that this activity is mostly free, so it fits pretty much every family's budget.

Journey Through Bethlehem

Our church also does a drive-through/walk-through version of a journey through bethlehem. My little ones loved this event. When you first arrive, the church parking lot is lined with white, candle-lit buckets that guide you along. When you pull up to the church doors, you are greeted by a hospitality team that hands out a brochure about our church, hot apple cider, and a cd that you can listen to as you drive through. Then, you make your way through the journey. It features different scenes of the Christmas story beginning with the travels to Bethlehem and ending with the empty tomb.

Bake Cookies

Sweets. Enough said. My little family loves sweets. They love to be in the kitchen with me, whether it's just cooking a meal or creating special treats. Sometimes as parents we think that we need to do all these extravagant experiences or gifts to show our kids that we love them, when in reality, just spending time with them is worth so much more!
