Shabby Chic Jewelry Armoire
Hi Friends!
This DIY update was SO FUN and definitely worth it. This jewelry armoire is 20ish years old and was a hand-me-down when I moved into my first apartment. (like I had any jewelry that was worthy of an armoire at that point LOL) Anyways, it's followed me around through 10 years and five moves. I have never really liked this piece, and always knew I wanted to do something to it... I just was never sure what that was.
Today, while working on another project that you'll get to see soon, I decided on a whim to take some leftover paint from by bedroom redo, and give this jewelry armoire a little makeover. I am IN LOVE with the results, and now a piece that I didn't like before has become a featured piece in my master bedroom!
SUPPLIES I used:
Paint brushes (regular & tiny)
Cardboard to protect my floors

Before...
Outdated & didn't match our decor.
Amy Howard chalk paint is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE chalk paint ever! Seriously. I use it on all my shabby chic / farmhouse projects! Her one-step chalk paint is the easiest stuff ever to use, and let's be honest, I don't have the patience for all that paint and wax mess that other chalk paint processes use. ;-)
Vintage affliction lives up to it's name! It's the most gorgeous shade of turquoise/slate blue mix.
I started one the larger areas of this piece, with the full sized paint brush, and brushed on the paint in a thin coat. While that was drying I took a tiny brush (on the cardboard under the armoir) and did all the smaller areas of wood, the edging, and worked around the hardware. After it all dried, I did another coat on all areas. After two coats on this piece, I still had well over half a can left.

After... SWOON!!!!!!

I love how this piece turned from an eyesore into something I am enjoying looking at in my room! I can't wait to show you my next project.
Do you have a piece of furniture you'd love to give a little update to?
