Summertime Home-School • Part 2

Simple Lesson Planning
Happy Sunday! It's planning day at our house! I thought it would be fun to bring you along on our planning today.
If it's simple (and pretty) I will use it! That's pretty much the story of my life. I don't need a lot of bells and whistles, but I like what I like, and that's what I tend to gravitate to. Things that are pretty and things that are of a simple, classic style.
When I was looking for a lesson planner, I scoured pinterest, but nothing really "fit" what I was looking for... so I sat down at my computer and created it!
Mary Kay Ash once said that if you have an idea, and I have an idea, and we swap, then we both have two! So please feel free to use my free printable below for your own lesson planning!
How I Do It
Lesson planning for me is super simple. It takes me about 15-20 minutes to plan our whole week out. Remember those kids of integrity lessons I talked about in Post #1 of this series? That's where I begin! This resource covers many of our areas of study.

(Midway through planning)
First, I choose what character trait we need to work on. (If we don't finish the lessons in one week, then I will extend our lessons until they are complete).
Second, I look at the Kids of Integrity curriculum and choose the bible stories that we are working on. If there is an art, music, or science lesson that goes along with it, then I will put those on my lesson plans for the week in the appropriate box. I also include the page numbers on the lesson plans. I will also choose our memory verse for the week. (Once they learn their verse, we start on a new one. So if they memorize their weekly verse by Tuesday or Wednesday, then we just add another.)
Next, I move to our alphabet & language. I choose the kids' workbook pages that we will be doing for the week and fill that in.
After that, I go to our bookshelf and we pull the books for that week. The books go in their backpacks and the titles on my lesson plans.
Finally, if there's anything left that we haven't filled in, then I will pop over to pinterest and find free lessons there to utilize.
Field Trips
This summer, we are focusing on 1-2 outings per week. Of course, I will try to match our field trips to our lessons, but that is not a hard and fast rule. It's summertime after all so we are planning some fun things! Amusement parks, splash pads, children's museums, play dates with friends, and harvest days at our local farms are just a few of the things on our list for this summer!
And there you have it! Simple Lesson Planning!
How do you plan your lessons?
