Baseball and Family Vacation
Hi friends! Happy Friday!
The last week has been a whirlwind for us. Last weekend, we headed to Pigeon Forge for a travel baseball tournament. We played at the Ripken Experience which was an awesome complex! The facilities and staff were so nice - I'd love to go back again. Even though we lost the tournament, the kids had a GREAT time! Our team came home with lots to work on in preparation for their July tournament.
We decided to extend our trip for a couple extra days and enjoyed a family vacation. Typically we do something like the beach in the summer, but the kids enjoyed this trip so much, they asked if we could go back. Our days were full with things like mountain coasters, go-karts, putt-putt golf, and a trip to Dollywood. Just as I suspected, our girl loved all the roller coasters and our boy... well he likes the ones with no loops. Our last night in town, we went to a Tennessee Smokies baseball game (they won)! Seeing our kids enjoy things that we did when we were little was a whole new kind of experience... and equally as fun!
I have officially recognized that I am in fact middle aged. LOL! My one "must do" while we were there was to pop by the lodge cast iron outlet. That store is so fun! There was so much to look at that I could have stayed there for hours, but I was on a time-crunch so I popped in for my one thing... a cast iron griddle. I have a gas stove (which I LOVE to cook on), and I find that cast iron works best with it, so I am slowly replacing my pots and pans.
You would think this far into my aHUS journey that I'd know my limits and pace myself. I often find my body doesn't allow me to "go" as much as I once did. By the time we arrived back home on Wednesday, I was ready for a good rest. That night was low key. I watered my plants and that was about it.
Yesterday, I had my ultimiris infusion which went well. I slept through the whole thing... and the post-infusion downtime too. Then, I went home and rested the remainder of the day. So far, the side effects have held off this time, which I am thankful for.
Today, I have an iron infusion. My recent hemoglobin count was normal, but the nephrologist wants me to have extra due to the renal failure. So I am headed to the hospital for that appointment.
Since we've been on the go for a week, we will keep this weekend relatively low-key. We don't have any plans other than church on Sunday. I can't wait to be back to worship & fellowship with our sweet church family.
I hope you have a blessed weekend!
