Several times through my kidney failure ordeal, this verse has come up. This morning while I was in His Word, it came up again. Today, for whatever reason it resonated with me more than the previous times.
"Do not be afraid; only believe, and she will be made well." - Luke 8:50

Leading up to this part of scripture, a man named Jairus (who was the ruler of the synogogue) had gone to see Jesus when He arrived back in town. Jairus' daughter was sick and dying. Jairus met with Jesus, and He agreed to go back to the house where the girl was. As they were on their way, they got delaying due to the crowd of people. He stopped to deal with the bleeding woman who had touched His garment and been healed. While that was happening someone from Jairus' house came and told him that his daughter had died and not to trouble Jesus. (To be on the way home with the Savior, and you child dies. Can you imagine how defeated he must've felt in that moment?) When Jesus heard that, He answered for them not to fear, but to believe and she would be made whole. Then, He went to Jairus' house, cleared the room except for the girl's parents, Peter, James, & John. Then, Jesus healed her and raised her from the dead.
This passage of scripture encouraged me so much today. When it looks bleak and impossible, God can do the miraculous. All He asks of us is our belief. It's the same with being saved - John 3:16 says to believe in Him, and you will be saved. Believing in Him means putting our trust and confidence in Him alone.
My body doesn't seem to be healing, despite all our best efforts. Each blood draw just as defeating as the last. My creatinine was up to 5.77 in mid-December. We go back next week for another check.
Faith is challenging at times. My mind has been in a constant battle between faith & flesh. Not being able to be at church is weighing on me. How I miss worshipping and learning together with my people. However, God is meeting me where I am, and today, He gave me this verse during my quiet time. :-) I am surrounded with encouraging, praying friends who have been solid, steady, and always pointing me to Jesus.
My hope is found in the resurrected Lord, the One with power over life and death. So, today, I am choosing to rest in His word, and believe that I will be made well.
Happy Sunday friends!
