Your Kidneys Are Failing

Kidney Failure. Two words that have forever changed my life... And grace... another one.

Mid-June I was put on birth control to regulate p.c.o.s. symptoms & did blood work to see if something underlying causing them. My labs were a little off so I was put on a diabetic diet, lost 20lbs in 2 months, and thought I was doing great..

Had follow up labs on Aug 10th, and 2 days later got a call to go to the e.r. immediately bc i was in kidney failure. When i got there my blood pressure was at a stroke level. (224/138 & hr 150). My creatinine (kidney function indicator) climbed to 6.5 but is now stable at 6.3... Normal is 1.

A weeklong stay in the hospital determined not a lot other than I am a "medical mystery". I was having no symptoms & felt great, but the blood work says I'm really sick.

My med team thinks the birth control caused high blood pressure which caused TMA (microscopic blood clots in my kidneys) which led to kidney failure.

My BP is now regulated, and my kidneys have stabilized, but don't seem to be healing.

I had my first appt with my kidney specialist last week. Most of my lab work is stabilizing, so they are scheduling a biopsy to rule out autoimmune disorders.

The docs have no idea how to treat this, so my nephrologist is calling some world-renowned specialists he knows in Raleigh/Chapel Hill to get their opinions.

My blood doc is praying and says the Lord already has gone before us. We just need to be patient and wait on Him to give us the wisdom and answers. This may be something that only He and time can heal.

I do know who the ultimate Healer is and I could write a book about all the little glimpses of grace God's given me in all of this.

As of now dialysis and transplants are not a topic of discussion yet bc I'm still producing urine like normal. (Everyone asks me about that )

So that's been my life for the last 3 weeks...

We could use lots of prayer right now. We need wisdom to know how to treat this (or) Jesus to heal my kidneys.
